An elderly woman was found dead at her residence at Kumsi in Shivamogga taluk on Thursday. The police identified the deceased as Basamma, 65, wife of late Shanthappa.
It is suspected that she was murdered on Wednesday night by unknown persons when she was alone at her home. The Kumsi Police registered a case based on a statement by Basamma’s younger brother Eshwarappa, who is also her daughter’s husband.
The complainant has suspected dispute over property for the murder. The police are investigating the case.
