The Pothanikad police in Ernakulam district of Keralam have launched a probe into an alleged theft at a property of Congress leader and Muvattupuzha MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan.
The police registered a case on Monday based on a complaint that electrical wires worth ₹50,000 have reportedly been stolen from Mr. Kuzhalnadan’s house under construction at Paingottoor.
The alleged theft occurred around 6.30 pm on Sunday, according to the FIR.
The police have registered the case over alleged house trespass and theft under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Several cases involving theft of electrical items from worksites have been reported from the district in recent months. Two weeks ago, the Kunnathunad police had arrested two men from Assam for allegedly stealing copper wires worth ₹25,000 from a newly constructed house at Mazhuvannur.
