Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana inspected the progress of capital works in Amaravati along with a Malaysian delegation on Friday.
The delegation comprised Selangor State Executive Council Minister Papparaidu Veraman and Klang MP Ganabatirau Veraman, representatives of the Malaysia-Andhra Business Chamber, and several private companies.
They expressed interest to invest up to ₹10,000 crore in Amaravati over the next five years in tourism and hospitality, education, trade and commerce and real estate sectors.
An administrator of Cyberjaya University proposed to set up a Medical University in Amaravati, while the Berjaya Group has come forward to establish five-star hotels.
On the occasion, Mr. Narayana said tenders worth ₹51,000 crore had already been finalized and the construction works were going on at a brisk pace.
The buildings and infrastructure being created include Secretariat towers, Assembly, and High Court buildings, 4,000 residential quarters for government officials, employees, and MLAs and MLCs, 360 kilometres of trunk roads, 1,500 kilometres LPS roads.
Principal Secretary (Municipal Administration) Suresh Kumar, A.P. Capital Region Development Authority Commissioner K. Kanna Babu, and Additional Commissioner Bhargava Teja were present.
