The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) on Friday (September 11, 2026) strongly criticised the police for allegedly handcuffing two of its leaders while they were being produced before the Vanchiyoor District Court.

SFI central committee member S.K. Adarsh and district secretariat member Manesh were brought before the court in handcuffs in connection with cases related to a recent Secretariat march.

The SFI leadership has alleged that the police action was contrary to the State Police Chief’s guidelines and questioned the need to handcuff the two student leaders.

SFI state secretary P.S. Sanjeev alleged that the arrests were part of a broader attempt by the State government and the police to target the organisation ahead of the college, university, polytechnic and school union elections.
