A 38-year-old auto driver allegedly stabbed his wife to death and later ended his life in Vibhutipura within the HAL police station limits on Wednesday (September 9). The preliminary investigation indicated that a family dispute was behind the incident.
The deceased have been identified as Raghavendra, 38, and his wife Shruthi Raghavendra, 30. The couple had been married for 17 years and had two children.
According to the police, the couple were living alone at their Vibhutipura residence, while their two children were staying with their maternal grandparents in Davangere. Raghavendra’s parents stayed in the first floor of the building while the couple lived on the ground floor.
The incident reportedly occurred after a quarrel broke out between the husband and wife on Tuesday (September 8) night. During the altercation, Raghavendra allegedly attacked Shruthi on the head with a beer bottle, resulting in her death.
He subsequently ended his life as well. The probe revealed thatRaghavendra was an alcoholic and spent his earnings on vices. He would blame Shruthi for being addicted to her mobile phone.
