Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy said that prominent Kannada film personalities will participate in the Jamboo Savari during the Mysuru Dasara finale in October.
Presiding over a meeting with representatives of the Kannada film industry at the Zilla Panchayat office in Mysuru on September 9, Mr. Reddy said that, as desired by Karnataka’s Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, leading actors, actresses and artistes from the Kannada film industry, along with sportspersons who have excelled in their respective fields, would participate in the Vijayadashami procession.
They will travel in an ‘Ambaari’ bus from the palace to K.R. Circle on the day of the Jamboo Savari. They will later be taken back from K.R. Circle to the palace and accommodated in the gallery to witness the procession.
Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) president Jayamala said a tableau depicting the 93-year journey of the Kannada film industry would be created as part of the procession. Around 30 prominent Kannada film actors and actresses would participate in the procession, covering about one kilometre, before proceeding to the palace gallery to watch the Jamboo Savari.
Former KFCC president Sa.Ra. Govindu urged the authorities to felicitate Kannada film personalities during the Dasara. He also suggested holding an exhibition showcasing the history and evolution of the Kannada film industry.
Film Artistes’ Association president ‘Rockline’ Venkatesh requested the Deputy Commissioner to make accommodation arrangements for the artists participating in the Dasara celebrations.
Mysuru city Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, SIIRD Director Sheikh Tanveer Asif, Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi, members of the film industry and officials from various departments participated in the meeting.
