Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday described the extension of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) deadline to November 9 as inadequate and demanded that it be extended by another four weeks.

Mr. Owaisi, president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, visited hearing venues in the Karwan Assembly constituency and said a further extension would give the large number of people who had received notices some more time to respond.

“I saw what kind of work is happening here and how many people have received notices. There are 59,470 anomalies in the constituency. The number of unmapped cases is 40,750. A total of 1,00,223 notices have been issued to people,” he said.

Mr. Owaisi also raised concerns over electoral rolls showing some voters as having “shifted”, saying several of them continued to live at the same address. He also pointed to cases where voters had been marked as dead despite being alive.
