J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed concern on Monday (September 7, 2026) over reports of mosque demolitions and assaults on minorities in the country.
“It’s an unfortunate situation. The way Muslims are treated as outsiders, as others, whether it’s demolition of mosques or the way in which they were assaulted, both are extremely unfortunate and should not happen,” said Mr. Abdullah, on the sidelines of the first International Film Festival in Jammu and Kashmir in Srinagar.
On his recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi, Mr. Abdullah said there was “continuous communication with Mr. Shah over several issues”.
“Be it Statehood or Business Rules, I keep in touch with the Home Minister. So, there were many issues that I raised before the Home Minister,” said Mr. Abdullah.
