Three infants received in Ammathottil in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha within a day’s time

Two girls were received in the Ammathottil electronic cradle of the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare at Thycaud here and another at the council in Alappuzha on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

At Thycaud, the first infant was received around 8 p.m on Wednesday. The six-day-old girl weighed around 2.3 kg. Another girl was received early Thursday morning around 3.30 a.m. Around two weeks old, she weighed around 3.3 kg. In between, a girl was received in the Alappuzha Ammathottil just before 1 a.m. The 20-day-old infant weighed 3.3. kg.

This is the first time that three children have been received within 24 hours in these facilities – since its setting up at Thycaud and in other districts.

The preliminary medical examination of the girls was conducted.

The girls who were received at the council on Gandhi Jayanti day and Vidyarambham day were named Ahimsa, Akshara, and Veena, council general secretary G.L. Arun Gopi said.

In 2025, 23 children have been received in the Ammathottil so far – 14 girls and nine boys.
