The Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday (September 4, 2026) vowed to undertake “balanced and world-class” development of the Braj region if the party returns to power in Uttar Pradesh, while asserting that the development should not come at the cost of ‘Brajwasis’.
Mr. Yadav made the statement on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami. “Heartiest congratulations and best wishes on Shri Krishna Janmashtami. May Ghanshyam Ji’s kindness and compassion continue to shower upon the devotees of Shri Krishna throughout the world,” he wrote on X.
“Today, on this auspicious occasion, for the development of the birthplace of Shri Krishna ji, we reiterate our resolve that just as we had done the basic work for the development of Braj region during the SP government, taking it forward in the same way, in our upcoming government, we will do balanced world-class all-round development of the Shri Kshetra of ‘Mathura-Vrindavan-Barsana-Govardhan’ in such a way that its religious-mythological importance is maintained and the pilgrims and spiritual tourists can also get access to state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities,” Mr. Yadav said.
He added, “the development of Braj should not mean neglecting the people of Braj. We believe that proper development is possible only with the consent and cooperation of the people of Braj. The key to the development of the Braj region lies in the upliftment and welfare of the people of Braj,”.
