Kalyana Karnataka Regional Development Board (KKRDB) Secretary Nalini Atul has directed officials to make elaborate arrangements for the Kalyana Karnataka Utsav to be held in Kalaburagi on September 17.
Chairing a preparatory meeting at the KKRDB auditorium on Thursday, Mr. Atul said that Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar would visit Kalaburagi on September 16 and 17 to participate in the celebrations and inaugurate the main programme. He directed the district administration to make all necessary arrangements for the event and ensure adequate police security for dignitaries.
He asked district-level officers to work proactively, in coordination with the district administration, to ensure that the celebrations were organised in a grand manner.
Preparations should also be made for the inauguration and foundation-laying of various development works taken up with the assistance of the KKRDB during the September 17 programme, he said.
Mr. Atul directed various departments to put up tableaux highlighting around 11 themes, including ‘Akshara Aavishkara’, ‘Arogya Aavishkara’, ‘Udyoga Aavishkara’ and ‘Aranya Aavishkara’. A programme for the distribution of various government benefits should also be organised, he said.
The tableaux would be displayed near Appana Kere, Ganapathi Kere, the fort, and the Jatra Maidan. The meeting also decided to prepare a list of State and national award winners in the fields of art, literature, sports and cultural activities and submit it to Kannada and Culture Department Deputy Director Jagadishwari Nashi, for their felicitation.
The Tourism Department was asked to set up digital information and exhibition stalls for the two days, showcasing the history, art, literature, culture and tourism attractions of the seven districts of Kalyana Karnataka. Separate district-wise stalls, along with public-address systems to provide information, should be arranged, Mr. Atul said.
KKRTC Managing Director B. Sushila, Deputy Commissioner Ikram Shariff, Superintendent of Police Adduru Srinivasulu, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Rahul S. Sankanoor, Kalaburagi City Corporation Commissioner Avinash Shinde and other senior district-level officers attended the meeting.
