Koppal district has made the best progress in Karnataka in the implementation of the five guarantee schemes and ranks first among the districts of Kalyana Karnataka, said P.T. Parameshwar Naik, vice-president of the Karnataka State Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority.
Addressing a press conference after a review meeting with district and taluk-level guarantee scheme committee chairpersons, office-bearers and officials in Koppal on Thursday, Mr. Naik said the five guarantee schemes were not merely government programmes but social security initiatives that had created history.
He congratulated officials of the departments implementing the schemes and members of the guarantee scheme implementation committees for the district’s performance.
Under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, ₹1,915 crore had been disbursed to beneficiaries in Koppal district between August 2023 and March 2026. Of the amount credited to 8,108 beneficiaries who had died, ₹89 lakh had been recovered and remitted to the government account, he said.
Under the Shakti scheme, ₹49.14 crore had been spent in the district between 2023 and August 2026. In addition, free bus passes had been issued to 21,192 students under the student bus pass scheme.
Under the Gruha Jyothi scheme, 1,39,966 consumers in the Koppal electricity division had benefited, with ₹209.2 crore spent between August 2023 and July 2026. In the Gangavathi division, 2,86,730 beneficiaries had benefited, with ₹442 crore spent during the same period. The beneficiary verification process had reached 87.19% in Koppal division and 86.18% in Gangavathi division, he said.
Under the Yuva Nidhi scheme, eligible graduates, postgraduates and diploma holders in the district had received ₹43.41 crore as unemployment assistance, Mr. Naik said.
He said the Anna Bhagya scheme was also being implemented effectively in the district. A total of 12,29,034 beneficiaries covered under 3,26,424 Priority Household and Antyodaya Anna Yojana ration cards were receiving 10 kg of foodgrains, including rice and jowar.
Under the scheme, ₹313.92 crore had been spent through DBT between July 2023 and December 2024, while ₹198.57 crore was spent between February 2025 and March 2026. A further ₹2.08 crore was spent in August 2026, he said.
District-level Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority chairman Reddy Srinivas, vice-chairpersons S.B. Khadri, Manjunath Gondabal, Nagaraj Arali and Ambarish Ganji, along with district and taluk-level committee members and others, were present.
