Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Monday (August 31, 2026) announced a Semiconductor and Electronics Manufacturing Park at Maduramangalam in Kancheepuram district at a cost of ₹175 crore through the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT).

Making a suo motu statement in the Assembly, he said it was necessary to attract investment in the semiconductor sector and strengthen the State’s contribution to the field.

Mr. Vijay said the park would have a global-standard research and development (R&D) facility to facilitate the establishment of new semiconductor manufacturing units. Besides attracting investments of ₹2,000 crore, the park would provide direct and indirect employment to 5,000 people.

Coimbatore FinTech Hub

The Chief Minister also announced the setting up of the Coimbatore FinTech Hub under the public-private partnership (PPP) model at a cost of ₹400 crore through the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO). The objective of the hub, he said, was to promote digital financial services through innovations in FinTech.

Mr. Vijay said the hub would have world-class facilities, office spaces, modern laboratories, and skill development and training facilities. It would facilitate high-quality employment and attract global investment in the FinTech sector in Coimbatore.

Multi-Modal Logistics Hub in Tiruchi

Another announcement made by the Chief Minister was the setting up of a Multi-Modal Logistics Hub in the Tiruchi region based on a project report prepared by TIDCO. He recalled the announcement made in the Budget that multi-modal logistics hubs and dry ports would be established at important locations to attract investment.

The government is setting up the hub in Tiruchi as the district and its neighbouring areas have important industries as well as a large number of small and medium-sized enterprises.
