Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Monday (August 31, 2029) announced a further increase of ₹3 in the procurement price of milk procured by primary milk producers’ cooperative societies in the State, raising the price to ₹44 per litre.

Making a suo motu statement in the Assembly, he said on August 19 that the government had increased the procurement price by ₹3 per litre, while the cooperative societies had increased it by ₹1, raising the price from ₹38 to ₹41.

As the input costs and the price of fodder had increased, the government had decided to further increase the procurement price by ₹3 per litre. “The government will compensate Aavin for the additional amount. It will cost ₹60 crore a month and ₹720 crore a year,” he said.
