Aasha Singh Jaiswal, veteran actress and mimicry artist, has passed away in Mumbai. The news of her demise was confirmed by her son, Akkash Bharadwaj, through an Instagram post. She breathed her last on August 22, 2026, at around 7:30 pm. 

Veteran actress Aasha Singh Jaiswal dies in Mumbai

Akkash remembered his mother as a “Karmath Loh-Mahila”, meaning an iron lady, and paid tribute to her work and life. He also appealed to people to pray for her soul and remember the contribution she made through her work.

In an Instagram post, Akkash wrote, “Wah ek karmath Loh-Mahila (Iron Lady) thi. Aap sabhi unki aatma ki sadgati evam shanti ke liye prarthna karen. Aur unke kaam ko social media par zarur dekhen aur yaad rakhen taaki unki aatma jahan bhi hon prasanchitt ho ki aap unka kaam ab bhi dekh aur yaad kar rahen hain (She was a hardworking Iron Lady. Please pray for the peace and salvation of her soul. Do watch and remember her work on social media so that her soul, wherever it may be, feels pleased knowing that you still watch and remember her work) (sic).”

He further added, “Kyunki unke jeevan me unka karm hee sabkuch tha jo tumhe unki mrityu ke baad Bramhaanand me moksh pradan karein issi aasha ke saath yeh sandesh main prasarit kar raha hun… Mrityu ka dukh nahin aanand Bramhaanand yehi unka sandesh….(Because in her life, her work was everything to her, which may grant her salvation in supreme bliss after her death—with this hope, I am sharing this message… Do not grieve death, but experience divine bliss; this was her message…) (sic).”

Aasha Singh Jaiswal was known by her son as India’s first woman mimicry artist who was famous for mimicking the voice of the legendary actress, Meena Kumari. She was also the owner of Aasha Events & Films. According to Akkash’s Instagram post, the last rites of the veteran were planned on August 23, at 10 am in Pawan Hans, Vile Parle West, Mumbai.

According to reports, Aasha Singh Jaiswal worked in BR Chopra’s period drama TV series Mahabharat, where she played the role of Kripi, sister of Kripacharya, wife of Dronacharya and mother of Ashwathama.
