Ever since TV actress Akanksha Chamola spoke about her separation from Gaurav Khanna on Netflix’s Lock Upp Season 2, she has faced criticism on social media. Following her revelations, questions were raised online about whether she was capitalising on her husband’s popularity after their separation.
Akanksha has now responded to those dismissing the divorce news as a publicity stunt and questioning whether she is exploiting Gaurav’s fame.
Did Akanksha spread news of the separation for publicity?
In an exclusive conversation with Hindustan Times, Akanksha Chamola dismissed claims that she fabricated news of her divorce for publicity. She said, “The very purpose of the show I was part of was to reveal one’s own reality to the world. You had to open up about aspects and secrets of your life that, for a long time, only you knew. That is exactly what I did on the show. I remained honest about my journey rather than constructing a narrative.”

Gaurav Khanna had previously revealed on Bigg Boss that he wanted children, while Akanksha Chamola did not. Following those comments, she was frequently trolled on social media. The actress has now addressed the criticism she has faced over various aspects of her personal life.
Akanksha said, “I have been facing criticism from people for a long time. I endured it when I got married, and I am still being trolled now that I have separated from my husband. There are certain things that only those who experience them truly understand. I have said what I wanted to say. I would choose peace over explaining myself to anyone.”
Akanksha and Gaurav got married in 2016
Akanksha Chamola and Gaurav Khanna tied the knot on November 24, 2016. Their wedding festivities took place over three days in Kanpur. Shortly after entering Lock Upp, Akanksha revealed that she and Gaurav had been living separately for around a year and were headed for an official separation. Since then, the actress has faced criticism and trolling on social media.
On the work front, Akanksha was last seen in Netflix’s Lock Upp 2. She did not win the show but did make it to the final week. On the other hand, her husband, Gaurav Khanna, is currently seen in Khatron Ke Khiladi 15.
