Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh appeared in a Reliance documentary on their channel, Reliance Updates, where he spoke candidly about his blockbuster films Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge, as well as the challenges involved in bringing the massive project to the big screen. The actor thanked the Ambani family for supporting the film and standing by him during a difficult period in his career. He described his association with the Ambani family as a blessing, an honour and a stroke of good fortune.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar proved to be a major box-office success. The two-part franchise went on to break several box-office records, while Ranveer is now set to appear in Pralay.
Ranveer Singh speaks openly about Dhurandhar for the first time
Discussing the film, Ranveer said on ‘Parvah Hai Toh Parivar Hai’ documentary that making and working on Dhurandhar was far from easy. He recalled the challenges involved and the courage required to undertake such a significant creative risk. Ranveer said, “Making or working on ‘Dhurandhar’ was not an easy task; it involved numerous challenges.”
He added that the team had to move forward with the conviction that if the film succeeded, they would achieve something new and monumental.
Ambani family became a pillar of support during Ranveer Singh’s tough times
The actor also spoke about his career and the importance of the Ambani family’s support, particularly during periods when some of his films were underperforming. An emotional Ranveer said, “I received immense love, support, and encouragement, even when my films weren’t doing well.”
He reflected on the unwavering support he received through the ups and downs of his career.
Jyoti Deshpande on the budget of Dhurandhar
Meanwhile, Jyoti Deshpande, President of Jio Studios, spoke about the scale of Dhurandhar. She said the makers knew from the beginning that the film’s budget would exceed their initial estimates. Despite this, they decided to move ahead and invest the required funds to shoot both parts rather than waiting to see whether the first instalment succeeded. According to Deshpande, the decision ultimately paid off, with audiences responding strongly to the film and appreciating the sincerity behind the project.
Ranveer Singh creates a storm at the box office
Released in 2025, Dhurandhar was a major box-office success. It earned Rs 1,056.62 crore in India and Rs 293.03 crore overseas, taking its worldwide collection to Rs 1,350.83 crore. The sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, released in theatres on March 19, 2026, and surpassed the first instalment at the global box office.
The film reportedly grossed more than Rs 1,852 crore worldwide, including Rs 1,361 crore from India and Rs 475.93 crore from overseas markets.
