Telangana government as part of aspirations to emerge as a globally competitive logistics gateway is in the process of initiating several facilitating measures, including formulation of the State Logistics Policy 2.0 and City Logistics Plans for Hyderabad and Warangal.

An Integrated Logistics Master Plan is also on the cards. The State government is also working on development of a multi-modal logistics park (MMLP) in Manoharabad, alongside initiatives to strengthen air cargo infrastructure and promote skill development in the air logistics sector, the State Commerce and Export Promotion Department said on Friday.

With logistics set to be a critical enabler of economic growth, the government is prioritising measures that will reduce logistics costs, enhance multimodal connectivity, attract investments and facilitate seamless movement of goods within the State and across the region, the Department said in a release on the PM GatiShakti and LEADS 2025 Dissemination Workshop for Southern States organised in Hyderabad by the Centre’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

The workshop provided a platform for senior government officials and stakeholders from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Puducherry, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep, along with representatives from industry bodies, trade associations, and logistics sector stakeholders. The discussions focused on enhancing logistics efficiency, promoting integrated infrastructure planning, and improving ease of logistics across the region. PM GatiShakti National Master Plan focus is to enable integrated infrastructure development and improved logistics efficiency, it said.

Telangana played host to the Southern Regional Workshop for the first time. The State has consistently participated in the Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) assessment and earned recognition as a high performer among landlocked States. Telangana government Director of Industries and Export Commissioner Nikhil Chakravarthi inaugurated the workshop.
