In a major push to safeguard public assets and boost local revenue, Deputy Commissioner Rahul Pandve has directed officials of the Yadgir City Municipal Council (CMC) to conduct a comprehensive survey of all civic properties, erect proper fencing, and secure them from encroachments.

The directive comes following a personal inspection by the Deputy Commissioner, alongside CMC Commissioner Umesh Chavan and other officers, to assess the current condition of municipal assets across the city.

Expressing unhappiness at the visible neglect, Mr. Pandve noted that several properties remained undeveloped, unmaintained, and vulnerable due to the lack of protection.

Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Pandve confirmed that an official survey would soon be ordered to fix the exact boundaries and physically secure municipal land.

”The survey will help us identify and clear any existing encroachments, while ensuring proper legal documentation for every property,” Mr. Pandve stated.

Highlighting the city’s financial hurdles, the Deputy Commissioner expressed concern over the deficit in tax collection caused by unpaid dues, which has hampered municipal development projects. He made a strong appeal to citizens to pay their property taxes regularly and instructed CMC officials to proactively coordinate with private occupants to recover long-standing arrears.

To generate sustainable revenue and modernise local infrastructure, Mr. Pandve revealed that the district administration is actively seeking to attract major commercial establishments.

He highlighted that bringing large retail hubs, such as D-Mart, to Yadgir would significantly enhance tax collection and economic activity, adding that administrative officials are keen to initiate discussions with retail management.

The Deputy Commissioner directed municipal authorities to prioritise urban green spaces by rejuvenating public gardens to make them safe, vibrant, and accessible — particularly for children and families.
