BJP MPs Jagadish Shettar and Ramesh Jigajinagi on Tuesday joined their party’s protest in Belagavi and Vijayapura, respectively, seeking the resignation of Minister and Congress leader B. Nagendra.

BJP workers have started a protest seeking the resignation of the Minister who is facing the charge of financial misappropriation in the Maharshi Valmiki Development Board.

Mr. Shettar addressed protestors in Belagavi and sat with them for some time at the protest venue. He said that Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s action to include Mr. Nagendra in his Ministry is unpardonable.

Belagavi Rural BJP district unit president Subhash Patil, Belagavi Metropolitan BJP district unit president Geeta Sutar, the former MLA Sanjay Patil, leaders Basavaraj Hundri, Sonali Saranobat, K.V. Patil, Chetana Angadi, office-bearers and some leaders of the Valmiki community were present.

In Vijayapura, Mr. Jigajinagi addressed the protestors. He said that Mr. Nagendra benefitted from the diversion of ₹180 crore in the Ministry of Tribal Welfare. He demanded strict action against the Minister.

Party leaders and activists participated in the ongoing night-long sit-in in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office demanding Mr. Nagendra’s resignation.

Mr. Jigajinagi also demanded the immediate declaration that Vijayapura district is drought-hit area, waiving loans of farmers in the district and release of scholarships.
