The Gujarat police on Monday (August 17, 2026) reportedly seized devices belonging to independent journalist Ravi Nair, acting on a search warrant issued by a magistrate court.

The police also seized a laptop and an iPad belonging to Mr. Nair’s colleague Sachi Hegde, who was at his residence at the time, as well as devices reportedly belonging to Mr. Nair’s son, as per media reports.

As reported in a section of the media, the police reached Mr. Nair’s Kerala and Delhi premises in the afternoon. In Kerala, they seized his old and unused phones and pen drives, while in Delhi, his son’s laptop, as well as the laptop and iPad of his colleague Ms. Hedge, were impounded.

The seizures came after the Gujarat High Court declined to quash a First Information Report against Mr. Nair alleging forgery, registered following a complaint concerning a news report about the Adani Group published in October 2025.

According to media reports, Mr. Nair was in Kerala when the searches took place.
