Congress leader Anishur Rahman and his son Abu Sufiyan were killed in West Bengal’s Nadia district late on the night of August 14, 2026. Miscreants fired upon the vehicle in which the father and son were travelling at the Nakasipara railway gate. After several rounds were fired at the vehicle, the duo were dragged out of the vehicle and hacked to death.

Three persons were arrested in connection with the murder on Sunday (August 16, 2026) morning (August 16, 2026). Among the arrested is Fatema Bibi, head of Nadia’s Haranagar panchayat. Two of Ms. Fatema’s associates, Ali Mandal and Mithun Sheikh, have also been arrested. A court in Krishnanagar remanded the accused to police custody for nine days.

The Congress observed a ‘Black Day’ across the State on Sunday (August 16). “Nadia’s Congress leader Anishur Rahman and his son Abu Sufiyan have been brutally murdered.
