AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami said on Saturday that the 100-day achievement of the ruling TVK-led government was creating reels.

Mr. Palaniswami addressed the media at Nedunchalai Nagar in Salem after flagging off two ambulances for the Tirukoilur Assembly constituency that were bought by Tirukoilur MLA Palanisamy.

Responding to a question on a student’s murder in Coimbatore, Mr. Palaniswami condemned the tragic incident and said the government should take action against those responsible. He said a calling attention motion was brought in the Assembly on behalf of the AIADMK, and on Monday, the government assured them that it would give complete details on the incident.

“Creating reels is the 100-day achievement of the TVK government. In a short period, the price of rice increased from by ₹15 to ₹20 per kg. Likewise, the TVK-led government is facing multiple protests, including by the farmers. The TVK, which promised to waive crop loans, failed to do it. On the Mekedatu dam issue, the government should convene an all-party meeting to hear the views of the Opposition parties and farmers,” Mr. Palaniswami said.

Alleging that the TVK did not consider the views of the CPI, CPI(M), and VCK, he said that Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay did not know everything about the Cauvery issue.

Regarding the investors’ meeting, Mr. Palaniswami said that most of the MoUs signed at the meeting were related to expansion of existing industries and no new big industries had been promised. “These industries were brought to the State during the AIADMK and DMK regimes,” he added.

“The names of schemes brought in by the DMK and AIADMK governments were changed by the TVK-led government. This shows the TVK-led government could not bring any new schemes or projects. The Assembly is looking like the Assembly in a cinema,” Mr. Palaniswami said.

Later, M. Arunkumar, the TVK candidate for the Edappadi Assembly constituency, whose nomination for the Assembly poll was rejected, joined the AIADMK in the presence of Mr. Palaniswami on Saturday evening.
