The Tourism Department will hold a slew of programmes ahead of Onam as part of efforts to drum up excitement for the 10-day festival. As a prelude to the Onam Tourism Week Celebrations being organised by the Department of Tourism, a Cycle Rally will be held in the city on Sunday.

Around 100 cyclists will participate in the rally, which will be flagged off at 7 am from Manaveeyam Veedhi. Cyclists should report at the starting point at 6.30 a.m. with their bicycles. The rally will pass through the Museum, Palayam and Statue before concluding at Gandhi Park (East Fort).

Cyclists have been enlisted for the rally through organizations like Kerala State Sports Council, SAI (Sports Authority of India), Trivandrum Bikers Club and Indus Cycling Embassy. The rally is supported by Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC), District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, FIT India and She Cycling.

The Tourism Department’s Onam Tourism Week Celebrations will be held from August 24 -30. The week-long festival will bring alive the classical, folk, ethnic and popular art forms before a wide audience in multiple venues in the State capital and districts across the State.
