The Kerala government has announced the bonus and special festival allowance for government employees, teachers and pensioners ahead of Onam.

The government has announced a bonus of ₹4,500 to government employees and teachers. Employees not entitled to the bonus will be eligible for ₹3,000 as special festival allowance, a Finance Department order dated August 14 said.

All employees will also be granted an Onam advance of ₹20,000 on their salaries. There is no change in the bonus or advance amounts from last year, according to the order. Part-time and contingent employees will receive an advance of ₹6,000.

Aided school teachers appointed through the Public Service Commission, part-time teachers who are paid their salaries on salary scale-basis, full-time and part-time contingent employees in aided educational institutions, employees working on deputation in corporations, public sector institutions, boards and grant-in-aid institutions also are eligible for the bonus.

Government employees will also be eligible for an Onam advance of ₹20,000. Part-time, contingent employees will be advanced ₹6,000.
