Accusing the Uttar Pradesh government of failing to initiate any major teacher recruitment drive for a long-time forcing millions of eligible candidates to wait for years, aspirants announced on Thursday (August 13, 2026) that they will run a social media campaign across platforms on August 16 aimed at raising awareness and pressing the government for recruitment.
“There hasn’t been a major teacher recruitment drive in Uttar Pradesh for over five years at primary level. Millions of candidates are constantly waiting for teacher recruitment. Through various news sources, it has been reported several times that the government will conduct recruitment, but till now the notification for teacher recruitment has not been issued. We can’t wait any more, we need notification at the earlier along with time-bound assurance of completing the appointment process. With this demand, we are going to run a big Twitter/X campaign on Sunday, 16th August, targeting ten million tweets,” said Vijay Pratap, an aspirant from Prayagraj.
Various education related social media platforms run by students and aspirants of U.P. also circulated the same announcement. “All friends should be ready and spread the information about this campaign to as many candidates as possible.
“Unity is our strength,” reads a viral message on X. Sanyukt Pratiyogi Chhatra Hunkar Manch, an Prayagraj based outfit of competitive recruitment examination aspirants also announced support for the campaign.
“It has been over five years, no vacancy has come at the primary school level, people having D. El. Ed degrees are feeling dead due to the neglect, we have given representation to all the concerned people including Basic Education Minister, Deputy CM, but the government is silent on our demand, without appointment what is the need of such degree, why give hope to aspirants, five year is a long-time in life, our prime young years is being wasted,” said Adarsh Tiwari, another aspirant, who is a D.El. Ed degree holder. D. El. Ed is a two-year (full-time) educational certificate course trained to teach at levels of class 1 to 8.
Congress party supported the initiative of aspirants, alleging that the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh has failed big time in providing jobs to youth of the State.
“During elections in 2014 and 2017, both Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji and U.P. CM Yogi Adityanath Ji, made tall promises about jobs and employment generation in the State, but the BJP had completely failed. The outburst and anxiety of aspirants are leading to such online campaign push, we fully stand with the youth of Uttar Pradesh, our leader Rahul Gandhi Ji, was in Prayagraj holding dialogue with youth, we support them in whatever way possible,” told Abhishek Dutt, National Secretary Congress and Zonal In-charge Purvanchal Zone.
