Taliparamba MLA T.K. Govindan has said that he will file a complaint with the Cooperation department seeking an investigation into financial irregularities surrounding Halal Fayidah Cooperative Society. He had submitted a depositor’s complaint to the Chief Minister the other day.
Mr. Govindan told The Hindu that the depositor had approached him alleging that the money that he had invested in the society was returned only after nearly nine years and sought a detailed investigation into the collection and utilisation of deposits by the society.
The MLA said he had received the complaint from a depositor named K.P. Nazar, who had invested ₹1 lakh in the society. He said the return of Mr. Nasar’s deposit after the submission of the complaint raised several questions, particularly since the society was reportedly not functioning.
