The three-month-old Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam-led coalition government on Thursday (August 13, 2026) opened its investment account, signing 97 MoUs worth over ₹67,542 crore at its first major investment conclave, ‘Vettri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026’, held in Chennai.

The MoUs were exchanged in the presence of Chief Minister C. Jospeh Vijay; Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce S. Keerthana; Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Guidance Deepak Jacob; and State Industries Secretary S. Vijayakumar. Gudiance is the nodal agency instrumental in clinching these deals.

“With today’s announcements, the cumulative investment commitments in the first 100 days of our government will cross ₹1 lakh crore, generating more than 1.2 lakh job opportunities. This is on average a ₹1,000 crore committed capital for every single day we have been in office,” Ms. Keerthana said in her address, broadcast live through a YouTube feed from the venue.

The 111-year-old Hinduja Group will be investing ₹2,500 crore in renewable energy, electric mobility, automotive, financial services, energy, battery charging infrastructure, and digital mobility solutions. A key component of the commitment will be the development of 200 MW+ renewable energy projects by Hinduja Renewables Energy Private Limited (HREPL), spanning solar, wind, and battery technologies. The Ramanathapuram region, meanwhile, has got its first big investment of ₹1,000 crore from the Phoenix Kothari Group.

Germany’s Daimler India Commercial Vehicles will invest ₹4,000 crore to expand its 400-acre Oragadam facility for design, R&D, and manufacturing of commercial vehicles. While France’s Saint-Gobain will invest ₹2,000 crore across a new greenfield plant in Krishnagiri and an expansion in Kancheepuram, Japan’s YKK, the world’s largest manufacturer of zippers and fastening products, will invest ₹1,651 crore in Tiruvallur, creating 4,316 jobs.

Singapore’s Ascendas Firstspace will develop a ₹1,000-crore industrial park in Tiruvallur, and U.S.-based Super Micro Computer, ranked No. 292 on the Fortune 500, will set up server assembly operations in Chennai.

The Titan company will invest ₹1,000 crore in Hosur to expand facilities for premium watches, jewellery, and automation equipment for its electronics business, creating 1,200 jobs. Lucas TVS, a homegrown automotive and EV components major, will invest ₹2,500 crore across multiple facilities.

Space tech investments

Two major players in the space sector have also inked a deal. Agnikul Cosmos will invest ₹400 crore and create 1,500 jobs, setting up assembly and integration operations for its reusable, liquid-propelled launch vehicles. And Skyroot Aerospace will invest ₹250 crore and create 500 jobs, setting up storage, assembly, integration, and testing facilities.

The Life Sciences sector saw eight companies sign MoUs. Caplin Group of Companies will invest ₹925 crore, including a new integrated biologics and biosimilars R&D and manufacturing facility in Tiruvallur. S3V Vascular Technologies will invest ₹525 crore in Kancheepuram to manufacture cardiovascular and neurovascular implants. Cellbios Healthcare & Lifesciences, manufacturer of specialised freezing bags for cell and gene therapy, will invest ₹150 crore across Dindigul and Krishnagiri.

“Our Chief Minister has given us an ambitious target: a $1.5 trillion economy by 2036. It is a big number, but its impact is even larger. For a young graduate, growth means a better job. For a woman, it can mean economic independence. For an entrepreneur, it means the confidence to take a risk. For a family, it means upward mobility. And for a district like Ramanathapuram, which is receiving its first industrial investment today, it means that a young person will not have to leave home to find opportunity. That is what economic growth looks like when you zoom in,” Ms. Keerthana said.
