The South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur, kicked off a three-day cultural event on Wednesday at the Dr. MGR Home and Higher Secondary School for the Speech and Hearing Impaired, exposing the children to art, folk traditions, and creative expression.

The inaugural day featured a special folk arts training workshop, an exhibition of paintings by Kavya S. Nath, a hearing-impaired artist from Alappuzha, Kerala, a folk-dance teaching workshop and a Tamil Nadu folk dance performance. On Thursday, a caricature workshop and Puducherry folk performance will be held while on Friday, a clay modelling art workshop and a mime performance will take place. The valedictory will be held at 8 a.m. on August 15 (Saturday).

Latha Rajendran, Founding Principal and Director, Dr. MGR Home and Higher Secondary School for the Speech and Hearing Impaired, said that for the children, the events on the three days were powerful avenues of expression, confidence, and connection.
