HC orders suo moto contempt case against HYDRAA Commissioner

The Telangana High Court on Wednesday directed the Registry to suo moto register a contempt of court case against HYDRAA Commissioner and IPS officer A.V. Ranganath observing that the officer had demolished the compound wall of a property in Malkajgiri of Medchal Malkajgiri district in violation of the HC orders. 

Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar of the High Court, passing the order, said the HYDRAA authorities erected the link-mesh fencing around the property without any proper communication/instruction from the Revenue authorities concerned. The Medchal Malkajgiri district Collector and Tahsildars of Malkajgiri and Trimulgherry, who were physically present in the court, informed the bench that they did not give any instructions to HYDRAA to carry out compound wall demolition. 

The judge, noting that the Collector had informed the bench that HYDRAA authorities had carried out 30 to 40 demolitions in his jurisdiction, instructed the Collector to submit a report on all such unauthorised demolitions not backed by any legal sanctity by next date of hearing. The judge instructed the government to ensure that jurisdictional district Collectors falling within the HYDRAA area of operation communicated all orders passed by the HC to the HYDRAA. 

This would prevent further demolitions or other actions by the HYDRAA in violation of HC orders, the judge said.
