A minor orphan girl was allegedly raped by her close relative in Nunna village under NTR Police Commissionerate.
The victim was living with her relative who abused her for the last few months. When she fell sick she was taken to hospital, where the doctors found she was four months pregnant, said Nunna Circle Inspector P. Krishna Mohan on Tuesday.
“A case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and other charges has been registered. The girl is undergoing treatment in Government Hospital,” the CI said.
Speaking to The Hindu on Tuesday, Krishna district Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Chairperson K. Suvartha said the girl would be provided necessary medical aid and protection.
“CWC will provide shelter to the minor girl in a rehabilitation home,” Ms. Suvartha said.
