Godrej Finance Limited (GFL), a subsidiary of Godrej Capital, on Tuesday (August 11, 2026) announced plans to build its gold loan franchise in Andhra Pradesh and expand across South India, following the acquisition of the gold loan business of Kanakadurga Finance Limited.

South India’s Gold Loan market is primed for growth as customers increasingly prefer organised, trusted lenders. According to a press release, over the next 24 months, Godrej Finance will expand its gold loan branch network in Andhra Pradesh from 54 to 100 branches, increase its customer base from 12,000 to 25,000.

The company also intends to expand its presence in Tamil Nadu, building on Kanakadurga Finance’s existing presence in the State, followed by entry into Karnataka. The company aims to serve nearly one million customers, with a Gold Loan AUM of ₹5,000 crore across India.

Andhra Pradesh will serve as a key market in this journey, providing a strong foundation for the company’s broader ambitions across South India, said Pankaj Gupta, MD and CEO, Godrej Finance Limited.
