The Thalassery Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Kannur on Tuesday (August 11, 2026) handed over Arjun Ayanki, who is currently remanded at the Thalassery Sub Jail, to the Kannur City Cyber Police custody for three days in connection with cases registered against him over alleged abusive and threatening remarks on social media.

Chief Judicial Magistrate B. Karunakaran passed the order after Ayanki was produced before the court. The cyber police had sought five days custody but the court granted three days.

Earlier, the court had issued a production warrant on the application of the Kannur City Cyber police to produce Ayanki before the Magistrate.

Several cases had been registered against Ayanki at different police stations for allegedly issuing provocative, abusive, and threatening remarks through social media while he was absconding in a criminal case.

Ayanki was arrested from Kannur in the early hours of Sunday and has since been in judicial remand at the Thalassery jail.

His arrest in a separate case registered for allegedly threatening the Kothamangalam police inspector was recorded on Monday. The police reached the jail to formally record the arrest.

Deputy Public Prosecutor K. Sreeja appeared for the prosecution, while advocate M.K. Hassan represented Ayanki. He was brought to the court amid heavy police security.
