Kerala UDF govt’s 100-Day Action Plan faces scrutiny as only 13 of 602 projects are completed with 60 days remaining

The UDF government’s ‘100-Day Action Plan for a New Kerala’ is under scrutiny as the halfway mark is fast approaching.

The V.D. Satheesan government had announced 602 projects across 50 departments under the banner 100-Day Action Plan for a New Kerala’, to be completed during the 100-day period from July 1 to October 9, 2026.

A dashboard has also been launched to enable the public to track the progress of these projects (100days.kerala.gov.in).

While it is customary for newly elected governments to announce 100-day action plans, the public rarely bothers to assess how many of these plans have actually been executed within the stipulated 100 days. More often than not, they remain little more than a ritualistic exercise, confined to announcements.

On Monday, the dashboard showed that while just 60 days remained for completion of the 100-day period, only 13 projects had been marked as completed. The progress of individual departments is also provided separately.

According to the dashboard, the Health and Family Welfare Department has 41 projects to be implemented at a total cost of ₹2,990 lakh. However, both the physical progress and completed projects categories are shown as 0%.

With nearly one-third of the 100-day period already over, the absence of any significant progress being recorded in the Health Department’s projects should be a matter of concern, according to B. Ekbal, public health activist.

He hoped that Health Minister K. Muraleedharan would take urgent note of the matter and initiate the necessary steps to ensure that the 100-day action plan projects are implemented within the stipulated timeframe.

“People have the right to know how projects which are implemented utilising public money are progressing. Dashboards such as this are a welcome step towards ensuring such transparency. However, for transparency mechanisms such as dashboards to be genuinely effective, the information they contain must also reflect actual progress on the ground,” Dr. Ekbal pointed out.
