HYDERABAD

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has demanded that the government increase the upper age limit for 7,000 police jobs, notifications for which was issued recently, against the total vacancies of 19,000.

Speaking to newspersons here on Tuesday, BRS MLA D. Sudheer Reddy said the Congress government had increased the upper age limit for sub-inspector and constable posts by issuing a GO (No.31). However, the notification issued had the previous upper age limit, instead of the enhanced one.

The government was citing the need for presidential (age modification) orders for issuing notifications with a new upper age limit. The government had also increased the long jump qualification mark to 4 meters instead of 3 meters 4 inches, for which two Congress MLCs had staged a protest in Gandhi Bhavan in the past, he said.

Similarly, against the promise of not collecting any fee for government job tests, it had now fixed ₹1,500 for SI posts and ₹1,000 for constable posts as examination fee, he pointed out.
