Mahima Makwana, who plays Preeti in the romantic drama Musafir Cafe, has been getting plenty of attention since the eight-episode series arrived on Netflix on July 24. Her character is a mature woman who falls for her business partner Chander, played by Vikrant Massey, while knowing that he will never stop loving Sudha, played by Vedika Pinto.
As viewers debate the characters and their choices, Mahima’s Mumbai home offers a much calmer change of pace. The actor lives in a 2-BHK apartment that leans heavily into a boho aesthetic, with plenty of natural light, wood, plants, colour and custom-made details.
Inside Mahima Makwana’s Mumbai home
The living room is one of the brightest parts of the home, with large windows bringing in plenty of sunlight. White sheer curtains help soften the light, while blackout curtains can be used when needed.
A large, lush plant sits beside the television, adding a natural touch to the room. The space also features a pastel pink sofa, a lamp and a framed piece placed nearby.
Wooden furniture in different shades of brown runs throughout the apartment. Rather than relying on ready-made pieces, much of the furniture was built into the walls and designed specifically for the home, helping make the most of the relatively compact space.
A ladder placed near the entrance doubles as a display area, holding photographs, books, plants and small decorative pieces.
Colour and custom details add character
An orange accent wall breaks up the otherwise pastel palette of the living area. It features a round mirror with integrated lighting, with a small cabinet placed underneath.
This is Mahima’s second home in Mumbai and is slightly larger than her first property. A concealed bar sits beside the accent wall, while a custom light fixture hangs above the wooden dining table. The lighting is designed to be minimal while still standing out within the boho-inspired space.
Inside her mother’s bedroom
Her mother’s bedroom features a bay window fitted with textured blinds. Built-in shelves on one wall display Mahima’s awards, turning them into part of the room’s decor.
An amoeba-shaped mirror adds another unusual detail, replacing the more conventional rectangular or round designs. The room also has a sofa-cum-bed, helping avoid the bulk of a full-sized bed and leaving more room to move around.
A blue wardrobe with golden handles brings the different elements together and adds another splash of colour to the room.
Mahima’s bedroom keeps things bright
Natural light is once again a major feature in Mahima’s bedroom, thanks to a large window. Blue tones dominate the room, including an accent wall positioned behind the bed.
Ceiling-height curtains help make the room appear larger, while keeping the overall look clean and uncluttered.
There is also a mirror with a concealed cabinet behind it, along with a wooden chest cabinet featuring a textured pattern. The wardrobe has cane and glass shutters, which fit neatly with the home’s wider boho aesthetic.
Overall, the Mumbai apartment brings together minimal decor, accent colours, wooden furniture, customised lighting and carefully selected decorative elements. The result is a home that feels personal without looking overly busy, with the design largely built around natural light, texture and colour.
