The Ernakulam Rural police have arrested five youths in connection with 17 cases as part of Operation Cy-Hunt, an ongoing special drive targeting those involved in organised cyber financial frauds.

The arrested are Muhammed Nadirshah, 22, of Vadakkekkara, Rahul Koottungal, 33, of Muvattupuzha, John Abraham, 20, of Manjummal, Ron Roy, 20, of Chottanikkara, and Muhammed Yaseen, 23, of Keezhmad.

The police seized from the accused laptops, mobile phones, SIM cards and ATM cards. The accused were nabbed during raids conducted at 35 locations. The raids were coordinated by Ernakulam Rural Cyber Inspector V.R. Jagadeesh.

The police said the operation mainly targeted mule account holders who gave their bank account details for cyber financial frauds to facilitate transaction of money obtained through illegal means.
