Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Marie Wilson on Wednesday said a new facility, ‘Anywhere Registration’ would be a cornerstone of the government’s efforts to reform the Registration Department, enabling citizens to register documents from the convenience of their homes.

Presenting the Revised Budget Estimates 2026-27 in the Assembly, he said the government had recognised the vital role of the Registration Department as the custodian of public records and was undertaking landmark reforms to ensure seamless, convenient and hassle-free registration of documents.

“By prioritising digital innovation and citizen convenience, the government is committed to making property registration effortless and corruption-free, while protecting innocent property buyers from fraudulent registrations. Necessary amendments to the Act and the Rules, in line with Supreme Court judgments and best practices adopted by leading States, will be introduced,” he said.

The Minister said, in a phased manner, the Registration Department would transition to a completely paperless and presence-less digital authentication system without compromising the legal validity or authenticity of any transaction.
