A man was arrested by the Fort police for allegedly attempting to attack police personnel inside the Fort police station on Thursday. The accused, identified as Sanu of Karimadom, allegedly barged into the Fort police station carrying a machete around 12.45 p.m. on Thursday. He verbally abused the officers and attempted to attack one of the civil police officers at the station.
The officer managed to evade the attack, causing the machete to strike a table instead. He was subsequently overpowered by a team led by the station house officer R.S. Sreekanth. At the time of the incident, several people including women, who had gone to the station to lodge complaints, were present. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
