The Central University of Karnataka (CUK) will organise the third edition of the International Conference on Earth and Environment in Anthropocene (ICEEA-2026) from October 26 to 30, bringing together researchers, academicians, environmentalists and policymakers from India and abroad to deliberate on major environmental challenges of the Anthropocene era.
The conference is being organised by the Department of Geography, School of Earth Sciences, CUK, in association with the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies on Environment and Development (CIIEMAD), National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), Mexico City, and the International Network of Researchers on Regional and Environmental Socio-Urban Problems (INRRESP).
The conference poster and the official website of ICEEA-2026 were launched by CUK Vice-Chancellor Professor Battu Sathyanarayana in the presence of Registrar Prof. R. R. Biradar, conference conveners Prof. M. Prashanth and Babu Nallusamy, along with Organising Secretary Tejaswai Lakkundi, and faculty members from the Departments of Geography and Geology.
According to the organisers, the conference will feature inaugural sessions, keynote lectures by international experts, technical sessions, paper presentations, panel discussions, and academic interactions from October 26 to 28. Participants will undertake educational field visits to important environmental and geological sites, including Hutti Gold Mines, on October 29 and 30, followed by interactions with field specialists and the valedictory session.
The conference aims to facilitate discussions on climate change, sustainability, natural resource management, geosciences, environmental degradation, disaster management, governance and technological solutions for environmental resilience. The major themes include geology and earth materials, geo-environmental science, marine geoscience, applied earth sciences, environmental sustainability, disaster management, and green development.
The first edition of ICEEA was held at CUK in 2021, followed by the second edition in 2025. The organisers said the upcoming conference would further strengthen the university’s commitment to international academic collaboration and research in Earth and Environmental Sciences.
