Climate activist and educator Sonam Wangchuk was discharged from Medanta hospital in Gurugram on Monday (July 27, 2026) after six days. The activist announced the news of his discharge on his X account, saying, “I’m being discharged from the hospital.”

The Medanta hospital said in a statement that Mr. Wangchuk was treated “under an integrated protocol involving internal medicine, critical care.” The hospital informed that he was stable during the time of discharge.

In a post on X, he said, “Finally, the day has come when I am being discharged from this hospital. Today, after leaving from here and before heading back home to Ladakh, I will go to Raj Ghat to pay my respects to Bapu (Mahatma Gandhi).”

Mr. Wangchuk had joined the agitation on June 28 and remained on an indefinite fast for 26 days. He was forcibly shifted to Safdarjung Hospital on July 18, where he said he felt like he was being kept in detention.

Following a Delhi High Court order, Mr. Wangchuk was shifted to Medanta Hospital.

AND FINALLY….
I’m being discharged from the hospital. Will be going to Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and then back to the mountains.
Thank you all and BIG THANK YOU to the wonderful team of doctors and staff at Medanta Hospital Gurgaon. pic.twitter.com/BBp5k6JY9X
