Priests offer prayers to the ‘Kavacham’ (armours) of processional idols Lord Govindaraja and his consorts, on the concluding day of the annual ‘Jyeshtabhishekam’ festival in Tirupati on Sunday.

The three-day annual ‘Jyeshtabhishekam’ festival at Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple in Tirupati concluded with the ceremonial ‘Kavacha Samarpanam’ (adorning of armours) on Sunday.
After the pre-dawn ‘Suprabhatam’, the sacred armours were taken out in a procession, followed by rituals like ‘Satakalasa’ ‘Snapanam’ and ‘Mahasanthi Homam’.
A ‘Snapana Tirumanjanam’ (celestial bath) was later given to the processional idols of Sri Govindaraja and his consorts Sri Devi and Bhu Devi. The festival concluded with ‘Kavacha Pratishta’, the donning of the armours which were removed on the first day, back onto the idols.
In the evening, the idols with the dazzling armours were taken out in a procession through the temple streets.
Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamy, Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, TTD Deputy Executive Officer K. Santhi and other temple officials participated in the ceremony.
