One passenger was killed and more than 30 others were injured, three of them seriously, when a private bus overturned on National Highway 66 at Kuttippuram in the district on Sunday (July 26, 2026).

According to local residents, the bus travelling from Thrissur to Kozhikode was speeding when the driver lost control. The vehicle reportedly struck the road divider before overturning and came to rest on top of a parked car, which was unoccupied at the time.

The impact of the crash was so severe that the bus split in two. The deceased passenger was identified as Vaishnav from Peruvayal, Kozhikode. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
