World Hepatitis Day webinar to be held on July 27

Ahead of World Hepatitis Day on July 28, The Hindu, in association with Kauvery Hospital, will host a webinar on “Hepatitis: Let’s Break It Down – Prevention, Early Detection & Cure” on July 27 at 11.30 a.m.

The session will focus on improving public awareness of viral hepatitis, including how it spreads, the importance of early diagnosis, vaccination, and timely treatment, while also addressing common myths surrounding the disease.

A. Shafique, interventional gastroenterologist and hepatologist, Kauvery Hospital, Tirunelveli, will explain the causes of viral hepatitis, modes of transmission of Hepatitis B and C, associated risk factors and the need for early screening.

Swati Raju, senior consultant, Medical Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Transplant Hepatology, Kauvery Hospital, Chennai – Vadapalani, will discuss current treatment options, symptoms that warrant medical attention, when treatment should begin and the importance of long-term follow-up.

U.V.U. Vamsidhar Reddy, clinical lead, Hepatology and Liver Transplant, Kauvery Hospital, Chennai–Radial Road and Tirunelveli, will speak on prevention, vaccination, lifestyle modifications, and clarify common myths and facts about viral hepatitis.

The webinar will be moderated by Meenakshy S., Principal Correspondent, The Hindu.
