Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) has relaunched its power infrastructure work in Mysuru district after a long gap, thanks to farmers’ and land owners’ support.
KPTCL, with the cooperation of local farmers, farmer union leaders, and the Police Department, on Thursday distributed compensation to landowners and restarted the stalled work. KPTCL had taken up the 220kV Kadakola-Vajamangala line power connectivity infrastructure project in Mysuru taluk in 2011, which had to be stalled due to various reasons.
The project has now been resumed and will soon be completed, thanks to the KPTCL’s efforts and talks with landowners and farmers. With this, the work has been commenced, and the line-stringing of the power transmission line will be completed in 40-50 days, it stated.
In 2011, the KPTCL had formulated the 220kV power connectivity project between Kadakola and Vajamangala. As per the plan, 83 power towers had been constructed, but the line-stringing work remained pending. In the meantime, landowners and farmers requested for higher compensation.
Following the directions of Energy Minister K.J. George, KPTCL Managing Director Dr. V. Ram Prasath Manohar provided suitable compensation to the landowners and farmers and sought their cooperation to complete the stalled work. “Landowners and farmers expressed happiness over the KPTCL’s amicable approach and assured full cooperation for its projects,” a press release from KPTCL said.
In the release, the Energy Minister said the cooperation of landowners and farmers is very important. “KPTCL is always ready to provide compensation and necessary assistance without causing hardship to farmers. If you trust us and cooperate, power services will be provided efficiently,” Mr. George added.
The KPTCL Managing Director said, “KPTCL has taken up several projects in the Mysuru region. We are working to upgrade power infrastructure with the trust of farmers and farmer organisations. Our mission is to complete power infrastructure projects quickly and provide quality service.”
“If landowners and farmers continue to cooperate, the work will be completed swiftly in the coming days and quality power service will be provided to farmers and the public,” said Mr. Ramesh, Superintendent Engineer, Projects-KPTCL, Mysuru.
