The call for a discussion in Parliament on police ‘brutality’ against protesting students in New Delhi, and the demand for Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over the NEET paper ‘leak’ issue, are expected to take centrestage again today in both Houses as they take up proceedings on day 4 of the ongoing Monsoon Session.

The Parliament has failed to transact any business for the first three days, which commenced on July 20, due to repeated adjournments amid Opposition protests. The government has said that it is ready to discuss the NEET issue, but the Congress wants it after the suspension of all business in Parliament, under Rule 267 in the Rajya Sabha and Rule 56 in the Lok Sabha. The Opposition MPs, including LoPs in Both Houses Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, remain firm about the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

As per revised list of business for today, the Lok Sabha is expected to witness a debate on the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, for consideration and passing. This will be accompanied by a statutory resolution moved by Opposition members Sougata Ray, NK Premachandran, and Adv. Dean Kuriakose, who seek to express the House’s disapproval on the Bill. The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is also scheduled to present a series of critical reports.
