Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release a postage stamp and a coin to mark the centenary year of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS).

According to the sources, the release of the stamp and coin will take place on October 1, 2025 in New Delhi and will see the participation of RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale.

RSS, the ideological parent of ruling BJP, is completing its 100th year on the day of Vijayadashami falling on October 2, 2025 this year.

Officials involved in the preparations of the event informed that postal stamp on RSS was not in the list of the stamps which is prepared for each year in advance.

“It was a spontaneous idea of the Prime Minister. It was deliberated as well as executed in a record time,” said the official.

The move is also being seen as a strategic step taken by the Prime Minister in recent past to dissolve, what the opposition terms as ‘differences’, between the BJP and the RSS. The Opposition’s criticism often hints towards the long pending wait for BJP’s new party president which sources say is a bone of contention between the party and Sangh. Though, both BJP and Sangh, on several occasions, have refuted of having any ‘differences’ in ideology and aim which is to serve the nation. In March this year, Mr Modi went to Nagpur for the first after becoming the prime minister in 2014. in his public address, he described the Sangh as the ‘banyan tree’ of India’s immortal culture.

Through his Independence day speech delivered from red fort on August 15 this year, the Prime Minister lauded RSS as possibly the “world’s biggest NGO,” and hailed the organisation for its ‘tireless’ work in civil society. He also termed RSS completing its centenary year as ‘golden chapter in India’s history’’.

Earlier this month, on the occasion of the birthday of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Mr. Modi wrote a piece praising the Sarsanghchalak. He termed Mr Bhagwat as ‘extraordinary’ individual who imbibed continuity and adaptation in his working and always kept nation first.

In his 126th edition of Mann Ki Baat edition on Sunday (September 28, 2025), the Prime Minister again called the RSS’s century-long journey “unprecedented and inspiring” highlighting Sangh’s role in nation-building.
