The Global Capability Centre (GCC) Feasibility Report of Kerala IT, released by Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty at the Technopark here on Tuesday, chalks out a comprehensive plan to turn Kerala into an attractive destination for GCC investments. The report was released at the ‘Kerala GCC Outlook 2026’ conclave.
Mr.Kunhalikutty said the report is a vital step for transforming Kerala into the most preferred GCC destination in the country. He said that with the highly skilled talent pool and an IT ecosystem with a stellar record over the past few decades, the State can attract major players. However, certain shortcomings have to be overcome.
The GCC Feasibility Report presents the state’s readiness and strategic roadmap for attracting and scaling up GCC investments. A report prepared by Colliers India, an investment and real estate advisory firm last year had identified Thiruvananthapuram as an emerging strategic hub for GCCs, governance, research, and technology in South India.
The GCC Outlook conclave was organised as a strategic platform to discuss Kerala’s growing GCC ecosystem and the emerging opportunities to help the State position itself as a major GCC hub in the country. It brought together senior government officials, industry leaders, GCC executives, consultants and ecosystem stakeholders.
2 lakh jobs
Seeram Samabasiva Rao, Special Secretary, Department of Electronics & IT, said that GCCs are driving the next wave of technological transformation and creating high-value employment across the globe. He said that at present Kerala has 45 operational GCCs. The government aims to increase this number to 150, which could create two lakh jobs by 2031.
Srinivasan Sarvabhouman, CFO of Bengaluru—headquartered ANSR, a global firm specialising in the establishment of GCCs, presented the Kerala Feasibility Report 2026 at the event. A discussion on the subject ‘Kerala GCC Opportunity: From Strategic Assessment to Accelerated Growth’ was held as part of the conclave. Kerala can be a niche destination for GCCs to start their operation owing to the State’s quality education institutions that generate readily available talent pool, said Suja Chandy, Chief Sustainability Officer (Global) & Managing Director, India Zafin. However, more investment and focus should be given to academia and industry collaboration with the government as the enabler in order to sustain the talent pipeline, she added.
Hrishikesh Nair, Chief Operating Officer, Brigade Enterprises said that the State needs to have ready-to-occupy incubation spaces, and invest more on quality infrastructure in order to rope in more GCC facilities into the State.
