The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has petitioned the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh, raising concerns regarding cross-state voter duplication and administrative disruptions during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
In detailed representations submitted on July 21, 2026, YSRCP State general secretary Lella Appi Reddy urged the authorities to defer the polling station rationalisation until the publication of the final electoral roll.
The YSRCP warned that conducting booth restructuring simultaneously with house-to-house enumeration would create confusion among election officials, political parties, and electors.
The ruling party leaders are exerting political pressure on Booth Level Officers to misclassify eligible residents as non-mapped without verified field checks, he alleged.
Highlighting voter roll integrity issues across border districts sharing boundaries with Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh, the YSRCP alleged widespread instances of suspected duplicate registrations.
The data submitted by the party claimed that several constituencies exhibited alarmingly high rates of suspected duplicate electors, including Kuppam at 16.03 per cent, Madakasira at 16.20 per cent, Yemmiganur at 14.48 per cent, Kodumur at 13.49 per cent, and Adoni at 13.08 per cent.
Specific cases were cited, including voters maintaining active registrations in both Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring States such as Telangana, as well as individual electors listed across up to five separate assembly constituencies within the State.
To protect genuine electors while cleansing the electoral rolls, the YSRCP urged the Commission to utilise ERONET and EPIC-wise matching for inter-State verification. It demanded that mapped duplicate details be shared with recognised political parties ahead of the publication of the draft electoral roll to ensure transparency and prevent arbitrary deletions during the revision process.
