The Bengaluru Traffic Police registered 690 cases of drunken driving and 253 cases of overspeeding during a week-long special enforcement drive conducted from July 13 to July 19, 2026.

The drive was carried out across the city by personnel from all 53 traffic police stations to improve road safety and crack down on dangerous driving.

During the campaign, traffic police checked 44,738 vehicles for drunken driving and registered 690 cases against motorists found driving under the influence of alcohol.

In a parallel drive against over-speeding, the police registered 253 cases and collected ₹2.54 lakh in fines.

The police said the enforcement campaign was launched to curb rash and impaired driving, which remain major contributors to road accidents in Bengaluru. The traffic police added that similar special drives would continue in the coming weeks to enhance compliance with traffic rules and improve road safety.
